Spring 2010 - Photography courses in English for Expats (& Koreans)


REGULAR PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES & INTENSIVE WORKSHOPS
SCHEDULE – Spring 2010

Classes in English (or French) - Teachers: Vincent Sung & Nikki Kim

*Introductory photography courses (analogue & digital)
Mixed course for beginners to build a good foundation about the basics of photography (film and/or DSLR cameras)

Topics covered will include:
- choosing a camera model, selecting the right lens, brand reviews
- technical aspects: Aperture, Shutter speed, ISO
- exploring different functions of film/digital cameras, color t°, color balance
- exposure control, composition
- lenses, filters, bracketing

B.P. 1: EVENING Basic Photography I (2x 2hours + 4 hours practice workshop)
Wednesday, April 7th & April 14th, 2010 (6:30pm~8:30pm)
+ one Saturday intensive practice workshop (4 hours)
(choose either Saturday April 17th or April 24th, 2010 - from 2pm to 6:15pm)

B.P. 2: MORNING Basic Photography II (2x 2hours + 4 hours practice workshop)
Thursday, April 8th & April 15th, 2010 (10:30am~12:30pm)
+ one Saturday intensive practice workshop (4 hours)
(choose either Saturday April 17th or April 24th, 2010 - from 2pm to 6:15pm)

DSLR - Digital Photography MORNING course
(2x 2hours + 4 hours practice workshop)
*Evening courses are also available on Tuesdays 6:30pm~8:30pm or other hours upon requests with a min. of 3 students

Tuesday, April 6th & April 13th, 2010 (10:30am to 12:30pm)
+ one intensive practice workshop on SATURDAY
(choose either Saturday April 17th or April 24th, 2010 - from 2pm to 6:15pm)

A course focusing mostly on digital DSLR, basic retouching (Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop) and its unlimited possibilities
- DSLR, hybrid cameras
- Formats, CCD, resolution, sensors
- Advanced techniques for digital photography
- Advices for digital files and archives
- Create a web presence (Flickr, Facebook, Web Blogs, etc)

Tuition: 250,000 won for each course

Specialized Workshops (on demand): B/W darkroom, POLAROID transfers, POLAROID Emulsion lift, Digital Creative Master Classes

§ Create your own lighting.
§ Put in practice what you have learned during classes or fine tune and put in action what you have read in books!
§ Share knowledge with other fellow students and get immerged in real situations!

SATURDAY, April 04th, 2010: FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY (location/studio)

– Learn the secrets of fashion photography with live/fashion model
– Different lighting techniques appropriate for fashion (with studio flashes)
– Special effects with color filters
– Creative approaches for fashion poses

Workshop only: 180,000 won (costs cover a professional model - please give photos to the model at the end of the session)

SATURDAY, April 11th, 2010: PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY (location/studio)
Teacher –Vincent Sung 010-4547-8364
– Learn the art of portrait photography with live model
– Soft lighting techniques appropriate for portrait (bouncing flashes)
– Special effects with color filters
– Creative approaches

Workshop only: 180,000 won (costs cover a professional model - please give photos to the model at the end of the session)

SATURDAY, April 18th, 2010: TRAVEL Photo-journalism
(locations around Seoul or Korea *if weather permits)

Travel together with our teacher(s) in our comfortable STAREX van to some remote Korean islands or locations near the sea/mountains. You will learn how to confidently take photos of the surroundings around you with techniques to produce truthful, objective, and candid photographs of the places, people and unusual things that are visually different from big cities like Seoul
-       Learn to create a travel story for future magazine assignments
-       Critique sessions for images
-       Understand composition and editing/contact sheets techniques (Adobe Lightroom)
-       Compose a travel theme and get eventually published

Workshop only: 180,000 won

*This workshop can be chosen as one workshop for regular (B.P. 1 & B.P. 2) Basic Photography or DSLR – Digital Photography course 1 or 2
**min. of 3 students required for this workshop / max. 7 students

SATURDAY, April 25th, 2010: REPORTAGE JOURNALISM
(various locations around Seoul) Teacher –Nikki Kim 016-253-8553

Head out to the streets and put your skill to the test! Learn to see through a different set of eyes! Here you will learn how to confidently take photos of the surroundings around you. You will learn techniques to produce truthful, objective, and candid photographs of the people, places and things that surround you!

-       Understand composition and editing techniques
